Good to have something sedentary to do on such a hot day. 47 degrees in the greenhouse!
I started by applying scrunched tissue to the lower part of the painting, to enhance 3D. The painting is mainly gouache with a little watercolour. I used masking fluid in the sky. The photo shows up bits that I need to improve, but not today.

Re: After Klimt - Mohnwiese 1907I like the way you explore depth in the foreground. There's a kind of aerial view here. Is that what you intended? Whether or not, I like it. It's like flying over the vegetation. For me, the trees need more texture. They need to leap beyond the foreground - but that's only because I think I'm flying over this. I should look at the original. I don't know it. And I wonder about the sudden stop of texture near the three trees and the grass.This sounds like I don't like your work. I do. I'm really impressed with your attention to detail. The foreground is intoxicating!

Re: After Klimt - Mohnwiese 1907This is something completely different Carolyn - a lovely piece to study and with all the different techniques and media you have included it takes the spirit of the piece and reinvents it! The tissue paper work really well and gives almost fabric like folds that remind me of the wind in early fields. The pointillist style is very effective in the trees and the stylised clouds match the decorative mood beautifully. It looks quite big -what scale is it? You infer that you have more to do on it so I look forward to seeing it develop.
