Work in progress, with acrylics on modelling paste on oil paper for texture. Colour matching is really hard and deciding which sections to paint first.

This is an interesting painting to study. I know what you mean about deciding which areas to cover first. I like the depth you're beginning to achieve here. I'm looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

Thank you Pat, it's been fascinating trying to get behind the painter, so hard to match colours, I'm hoping to finish in the next day or two.

Wow Adrienne -I can feel the Mediterranean heat radiating from this already! The modelling paste is looking effectively like Vincents thick 'impasto' style and the trees on the left are very like his. This is a big undertaking (I did't warn people just how challenging as I did want to scare people off) but so worthwhile and stretching. As you say it helps you start to get behind the painter and I wonder if you will start to process views and scenes with his eyes after this? On the colour matching its worth remembering how relative colour is and influenced by its close neighbours. So when you are analysing a colour in order to mix or alter it -try to isolate a patch by cutting a square or circle out of a white piece of paper and laying that over a patch of the particular colour.

Very interesting advice on colour matching, Alice, I'll give it a try, I'm off to cut a circle now!!
