I had a go at this Klimt which is in the Belvedere in Vienna. His was oil but mine’s the humble marker and gel pen.

    Nothing wrong with good old marker pen, this is a real stage.

    I think it is really interesting to make a study with a completely different media -you probably have to think harder about its nature and characteristics. Here you have really expressed the way that the lines direct your eye and the contrast between the cool, calm greens and blues and the illuminated energetic yellow wall and red door. I agree with Jeff's observation that it is like a stage -with a rather Alice in Wonderland sense of scale.  I went to the Belvedere Gardens last year -it wasn't quite as beautiful as this!
