My wife  looked at my photo's taken when planning my previous garden painting and said that I should do something else based on one of then. The result is this oil pastel sketch/painting on A4 pastel paper. ( I added some oil paint to the white flowers).  This was much easier and quicker to do than my previous oil painting but perhaps necessary  to go through that effort/concentration/ study first ........ ??

Well how nice that this flowed so naturally and effortlessly Chris and maybe you are right that it was partly due to the efforts of previous painting (s)! It certainly has lots of the Impressionist character to it -especially in your use of the blue exclusively as your dark tone. The texture of the pastel paper is harmonious with the general foliage feel, and the central white flowers make a lovely fleeting focal point. All the colours seem so perfectly in balance between bright and saturated and more muted. All three make a very good collection!

It’s really lovely, especially the blue background and contrast colours.
