The patchwork concept is helpful.  Influences are, perhaps, Hitchens for each focus area and Dufy for drawing in paint.

    Christine your watercolours never fail to delight me with their zen-like observation and economy of line, form and colour. This is bold and rhythmic -with lovely suggestions of dappled light and complex foliage. I can definitely see Dufy but your mention of Hitchens is a less obvious influence but I see what you mean -there is a sense of the jigsaw/ patchwork in his work (below) -as you say the isolation of individual areas.
